Another Day

Danielle had woken up that morning and said good bye to Kevin who stayed with her that night until she woke up. She went out of her room with her hot topic plants on to the kitchen.

Ben sat at the table with his legs propped up. He was reading the newspaper when Danielle came in. A half empty cup of coffee was on the table next to the remnants of his breakfast. "Morning Dani, coffee's in the pot and breakfast is on the stove." He said looking up briefly.

"Morning Ben, I see you cooked." Danielle said as she got a plate and put the food on the plate. Then she got a cup of coffece. Finally she went to sit at the table where Ben was reading the newspaper.

"Well tried to cook would be more correct." Ben griunned. "I see Kevin spent the night. Heard you two come in prett late."

"You sneaky aren't you when you sleep?" Danielle said.

"I'm sneaky in general. You should know that by now." Ben laughed and tossed his empty dish into the sink. "So you like him?"

"I have always known you were." Danielle said as she smiled, "You don't me to like him do you?" she asked him.

Ben shrugged. "I really don't care Dani. If you like him, then I'll leave him alone. But he breaks your heart. I kill him."

"I do like him, Ben Kanst." Danielle said as she took her empty plate to the dish washer.

"Okay, well then I'll leave him alone." Ben smiled. "It's not my choice to make."

"He a vampire for one thing, I am going to let you know." Danielle said.

"Then I know you're safe with him." Ben nodded. "Sorry for interrupting the date like that. I was just being too overprotective."

"That your job being my brother is overprotective me." Danielle said, "The date end well though"

"Well then I'm doing a pretty damn good job." Ben joked. "That's good to hear. I think I'm just gonna chill around the house today. Not much to do."

Danielle chuckled, "Nothing? There a lot of things to do." she said.

"Oh really? Like what, study?" Ben asked curiously.

"No, not study on a Saturday. Everyone knows that." Danielle said.

"My point exactly. What are you suggesting I should do then?" Ben said with a sly grin.

"A contest." Danielle said.

"Oh really?" Ben leaned forward in his seat. "A contest?"

"Yes, a contest that is being held at small party today. Called, 'Who can beat the fire?'. It is a total of a million dollars." Danielle said.

"That sounds weird. And yet I'm intrigued." Ben laughed. "When and where?"

"At the park, today at 1pm." Danielle said.

"Count me in." Ben stood up and headed to his room. "I just gotta change."
